We like to make life as simple as possible. So here we share some time management tips to help you make the most of your time and get stuff done. It’s more simple than you think.
Many of us struggle to get our work done, not for lack of trying, but perhaps because we procrastinate, lack confidence in our abilities or work inefficiently. Ever wished there were more hours in a day? Well, if you manage your time effectively you don’t need to stress about not having enough hours in the day and can complete the tasks you need to faster than ever.
Get important things done in the morning
We know that dragging yourself out of bed in the morning is a constant struggle, but it’s true that most people are more productive in the morning. So if you want to get stuff done, you’ve got to get up earlier. Use your mornings wisely to box off tasks that need to be prioritised or require more brain power. As the day pushes on we often find that our motivation deteriorates, especially in Winter when it goes dark earlier. But having completed your most complicated and pressing tasks in the morning, you can relax a little knowing that you’ve got the important stuff out of the way.
Get rid of distractions
It’s all too easy to get distracted at work by social media, phone calls or your colleagues. Sometimes the best solution is to isolate yourself for an hour or two; stick your headphones in and immerse yourself in the task at hand and power through. Without any distractions, you’ll find that you can complete your work far quicker. And once you’ve done what you need to do, you can indulge in a bit of guilt-free social media or socialising.
Plan your day
Planning is a great way to organise your day and ensure that you complete everything that you need to on time. After all, an organised worker is a more effective worker. By allocating time throughout your day for specific tasks, you can stay on track with what you’re doing and know exactly where you are. Setting yourself small realistic goals along the way, will also help you to track your progress and keep you motivated.
Setting a timer for tasks can also help you to manage your time more effectively at work, as there is suddenly a real need to complete a task to a deadline. And it will help you to track how long you’ve spent on individual tasks.
Work smarter, not harder
Working more doesn’t necessarily mean you’re working better. Sitting at your desk and staring at a screen for 8 hours straight is much less productive than working well for 30 minutes then taking a short break. Working in short concentrated bursts is vastly more efficient. Staying hydrated and exercising during the day are great ways to maximise your brain power. Even simply walking to buy your lunch can give your brain a much needed break and allow you to go back to your work feeling refreshed and energised.
Following these time management tips you can become more efficient and really make the most of your time at work.
