The instant Online Banking account with no address history

Why open an Arro Personal Account?

Try to open a high street bank account and you may be asked not only to prove your current address, but for proof of your address in previous years too.

In some cases you might be asked to confirm your address for the past five years – and if you are new to the UK or have moved around a lot, for example each year while at university, you might not even remember all the details of your earlier homes.

The Arro Personal Account just needs a current UK address, no matter how recently you moved in. So if you have only just arrived in the UK, or have recently changed address and don’t have past utility bills or other proof, you can still open an account within minutes in most cases.

How do you check my ID?

An Arro Personal Account does not give you an overdraft or credit card – although you do receive a MasterCard® Debit Card – and because of this we do not need to run a background credit check.

Instead, we just check your ID against our directly integrated databases from 160 countries, and can usually automatically verify your identity even if you are new to the UK.

Some rare cases do not allow us to do this, and we may ask for one extra form of identification, such as your passport or driving licence, but will always work quickly to get your account verified and opened for you.

What about my credit rating?

If you don’t have an address history you can prove in the UK, you probably don’t have a good credit record either, but an Arro Personal Account does not need a background credit check at all.

We don’t lend money to you – there is no overdraft on your personal account, and your MasterCard® Debit Card just gives you access to the funds in your own account, so there’s nothing to pay off later.

Because of this we do not need to check your credit rating. If you have a poor credit rating, you will still be approved for an Arro Personal Account, and either way your application will not leave a black mark on your credit file.

What can my Arro Personal Account do?

An Arro Personal Account gives you access to manage your own money and make payments in a similar way to a high street bank account.

You have a sort code and unique account number, as well as a MasterCard® Debit Card with 3-digit security code, so you can buy things online, set up Faster Payments and Direct Debits (not currently available, but it’s coming soon!), and shop from anywhere MasterCard® Debit Cards are accepted.

That even means you can use your card abroad, or to make withdrawals from ATMs if you prefer to use cash, and your account can receive payments in from abroad too.

What if I move house?

If you are someone who moves around a lot, don’t worry – if you move again in future, you can just update your account details on your online dashboard to make sure we have the correct contact details for you.

Arro Personal Accounts are only available to people living in the UK, so your new address must also be in the UK for you to keep your account, but other than that there should be no problems with letting us know when you move.

You might even find having an Arro Personal Account registered to your new postal address helps you in applications for other financial products elsewhere, especially if you have no other way to prove that you live there when you first move in.

How can I apply?

You can apply for an Arro Personal Account as soon as you move into a UK address – or if you have lived at your current address for some time but just don’t have utility bills in your name, that’s fine too.

Go to our signup page and the online application form will guide you through the information we need to know. In most cases it’s just basic contact details – name, address, email, telephone and date of birth.

If we are able to verify your ID automatically, we’ll open your account immediately, set up your MasterCard® Debit Card and send you your card number by SMS so you can start shopping online using the details.

We will also let you know immediately if we need any extra ID from you, such as driving licence or passport, in the rare event that we cannot confirm your identity using Experian’s online databases.
