2nd Current account for managing personal finances

Why open an Arro Personal Account?

Sometimes you need a secondary account to manage your money better – you might want to keep an amount separate to pay for something big like a wedding or Christmas, for example.

Maybe you are moving your main finances between banks and want an account with some essential spending money until your new account is open.

Or perhaps you’d just rather have all of your Direct Debits and regular commitments going out of one account, for example if you live with other people and each have your own individual income.

An Arro Personal Account is available to all applicants over the age of 18 who live at a UK address, and in most cases you will be approved online immediately, so there’s no delay in setting up money transfers into the account and Direct Debits going out.

What can an Arro Personal Account do?

Your Arro Personal Account can do all of the things most people would normally expect from their current account. It has a sort code and account number, and your MasterCard® Debit Card has the 3-digit security number you’ll need to shop online too.

Using the sort code and account number, you can set up regular or one-off payments into the account, so if you have one or several main accounts, you can make sure there is money going into your Arro secondary account each month.

The Arro Personal Account online dashboard lets you see how much is in your account balance, make one-off transfers via the Faster Payments Service, as well as create and manage Direct Debits to pay companies.

Why open an Arro secondary account?

Using an Arro Personal Account as a secondary account makes lots of sense:

  • No overdraft or credit card means you control how much money is available.
  • No credit check means no black mark on your credit file when you apply.
  • Fast online approval ideal if you have just moved (e.g. for business or study).
  • Direct Debits and MasterCard® Debit Card give you ‘normal’ ways to pay people.

An Arro Personal Account makes a great secondary account to collect payments in from multiple people, from students contributing to household bills, to collecting the money for a stag or hen weekend, or any other reason you might think of.

The account must be in the name of a UK-resident individual aged 18 or over, but as there is no overdraft, credit card or background credit check, your individual credit status usually does not matter.

Manage your money faster

We know that when you need to open a secondary account, there is often a good reason to do so quickly, if only so that you can get everything set up as soon as possible.

The Arro Personal Account signup form guides you through everything you need to tell us – there’s not much, just your name, UK address, date of birth and some contact details.

In some rare occasions, if you are very new to the UK and we cannot check your ID automatically, we may ask to see your driving licence or passport just to be certain of who you are, but we aim to approve applicants as quickly as we can.

Once approved, you receive your sort code and account number to start moving money into your Arro secondary account, and can start making payments and Direct Debits out from your positive balance.

A secondary payments card

Tougher regulations on prepaid payment cards mean many are disappearing from the UK market, but by having an Arro Personal Account in your name, you benefit from a MasterCard® Debit Card that can also access the funds in your account.

When you need a secondary payments card, for example if you don’t want to take your main credit card or debit card on holiday abroad, just make sure there is money in your Arro Personal Account and your MasterCard® Debit Card will be ready.

This means:

  • A branded MasterCard® Debit Card accepted anywhere that takes MasterCard®.
  • Use your card in the UK or abroad, including for ATM cash withdrawals.
  • Full card details and 3-digit CVV number for online purchases.
  • New and unique card details not linked to your primary bank account.

When your Arro Personal Account application is approved, we send you your virtual card details by SMS immediately, so you can use them to make purchases online until your physical MasterCard® Debit Card arrives in the post.

Remember you can also make Faster Payments transfers in and out of your account or use Direct Debit to make regular payments to companies – giving you plenty of ways to manage your money in an Arro secondary account.
